You will meet the graphical Chora, great beaches, and an imposing Castle that will amaze you. You don’t need to have too many days to explore the island but you will surely return at some point to admire this rare and seductive beauty.

Our trip to Kythera is always a good occasion for daydreaming and to get to know all aspects of it. This time, we were interested in Chora, the Castle, and the bridge of Katounio. All points one by one…

Kythera, a tour to the graphical Chora

Kythera is one of the islands that stands out for its Chora and it is no coincidence that they call it the Country of Kythera magical. A natural setting ideal for filming in the shadow of its Venetian Castle. Kythera Chora is built in the southern part of the island on a hill and it is a magnificent sight.

Here you will meet a combination of architectural rhythms in perfect harmony. Come to the ‘ Chirico ‘ the land of poets any time of the day in the morning, noon, afternoon, or evening. Every moment is a special experience. The settlement of Kythera has a special Aegean style, while there is no shortage of houses that have been affected by the Venetian and English architecture. I’m sure you’ll take a lot of pictures when you walk through the graphical alleys.

In Chora, you will see churches and beautiful gardens everywhere. All-in-one and well-groomed. Like a painting.

Kythera and their imposing Castle

As you find yourself in Kythera, don’t forget to climb up to the ramparts of the restored Castle. Let your gaze be lost in the endless blue of three different seas: Aegean, Ionian, and Cretan. You can’t help but see the most imposing sight on the island. You’ll hear it called Fortessa, and you should know that it was built in the 13th century, but it’s kept in very good condition to this day.

Kythera will surely fall in love with them at first sight. Don’t forget, too, to take a walk from Livadi and wait to admire the bridge of Katounio, one of the most imposing monuments of Kythera, built during the period of English rule.
