Kandouni beach is frequented by locals, young crowds and hikers

Kandouni beach lies to the northwest of the main port of Pothia in Kalymnos, about five kilometres along the coast road where the heights of Kalymnos extend into the sea. There are basic eating facilities at Kandouni, plus rentable umbrellas and sunbeds for a not-too-exorbitant rates.

As it is easily accessible, it is the favourite beach of the locals and can get quiet crowded sometimes. Kandouni is frequented by young people enjoying the local beach bars that are open all day. Overlooking the beach is the beautiful monastery of the Cross. The slopes rising behind the beach are ideal for hikers, as they’re not too steep and can be climbed in less than half an hour, offering a panoramic view of the bay. No public transport goes to Kandouni, so the only way to get there is to take a taxi or rent a car
