Kalymnos may be explored basically in four ways, driving your own vehicle, by bus or taxi and by boat. If you drive your own car, a decent map of the island is enough to orient yourself. The roads, however, tend to be narrow and careful driving is a must, especially around the hairpin bends. Bus services in Kalymnos tend to be rudimentary, connecting only the port with the main village communities. Service is regular but infrequent, while taxis are more flexible, but more expensive, and even more so if you need to call one from a remote location. In summer, excursion boats run from the capital Pothia to destinations including Kefalas Cave, where an impressive 103m corridor is filled with stalactites and stalagmites; and the island of Pserimos, with its big, sandy beach and tavernas. Frequent water taxis also connect Myrties with Telendos Islet year-round.
