Georgioupolis beach offers all kinds of facilities and sea sports

Georgioupolis is a seaside resort located 38km east of Chania and 21km west of Rethymnon. It is a small coastal town, situated in a lush valley filled with rivers and springs.

The town lies on the western edge of a vast beach 10km long. Georgioupolis beach stretches 2km to the east, starting from the river Almiros and ending in Kavros beach, which is a natural extension of the first beach.

Like all beaches in this area, Georgioupolis beach is sandy with large dunes and shallow waters.  In general, Georgioupolis is a well-organized beach, where, apart from swimming and sunbathing, you can practise sea sports, enjoy a refreshment drink at the beach bars or have a scrumptious meal in the seaside fish taverns.

The traditional fishing harbor of Georgioupolis attracts many tourists. You will find plenty of accommodation options on this beach in case you want to spend some days there and among them beautiful villas for rent.

The area is well-connected with regular buses to the nearby cities of Crete. Keep also in mind that the nearby Lake Kournas would be a nice excursion to go on foot or by bicycle.
