Kythera’s sites are countless, with many monasteries and churches of significant historical value, with Panagia Mirtidiotissa topping the list. The cave of Agia Sophia is worth visiting for its impressive spacious underground cave rich in stalactites and the church’s frescoes. Not to miss are the ruins of the Byzantine capital of Kythera, the fortress of Paleochora, a perfect example of 13th century architecture. For nature lovers, the sources of Amir Ali close to the evergreen village of Karavas, never stop gushing cool water.
